Staging Site
A new project has been added to my portfolio - the client staging site. The purpose of this site is to have a central staging area where clients can access their files, see screenshots etc.
The whole system (pasword protected of course) consists of two types of screens - a “dashboard” type of screen, and a “screenshot” screen. The dashboard is where the client can view screens, download files, and view comments. (I’m going to add the facility to post a comment also.)
Icons at the head of each of the three panels tell the client if files have been added or updated.
The first panel, Screens, contains screenshots of designs etc. These would be broken up into different sets, depending on the project. (Each panel can scroll, btw, not with nasty iframe tags, but with the css overflow property.)
The second panel, Files, is for any files (word docs, zip files, pdf files) that have been uploaded. The final panel, Comments, is for quick notes about the project. I’m going to add funtionality so the client can add their own €0.02.
Hopefully, the site should help make it easier to manage and maintain a good client/designer relationship. (Make sure to check it out in Firefox - there’s some added highlighting effects using the :focus element that can’t be seen in IE)
