More information about the site

First up, does anyone actually read these things? Answers to the usual address please. Anyway, what follows is a geeky list of how the site was put together etc.

The Fonts

Irishstu.com uses two fonts. Trebuchet (which comes preinstalled on your computer) is used for the headings and body text, and PixelSix14 for the tiny pixel font used elsewhere, for example in the right hand side. You can download PixelSix14 here.

sIFR

sIFR is used to create the lovely smooth headings you see - basically, the text is replaced with a flash file, so the text comes out nice and smooth. You can learn more about sIFR here.

The Logo

The logo is based on the Cuban flag, which I think is pretty cool looking.

The rollovers

Most of the rollovers on the site use an image replacement technique instead of javascript. This allows me to try out alterative stylesheets later on, and makes it easier to update the site if I want to add, remove or change menu items later. You can find out more about image replacement here.

People not Users

You may have noticed that I'm avoiding saying "users" when I'm talking about what services I provide etc. That's because when I think "users" I generally picture something from Trainspotting.
